THE CHRISTMAS VACATION SUMMARY POST
BROUGHT TO YOU BY EAT & PARK, HOME OF THE 3.95 GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH

So Christmas break was alright. It was very good in that I had some serious spiritual reflection and renewal going on. I'm seeing more and more that I really want to dedicate my life to serving God in some form or another...now we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I also got to sleep alot over break. Which is fun, although I've gotten to the point where I've slept so much that I can't sleep much anymore! WOOOOO

I've missed my friends over break though. Not that hanging with my friends at home isn't cool, but it will be nice to be on campus again where stuff actually happens once in awhile.

So in all, this break gets an A-. Bring on Spring semester...

How is everyone this fine eventide? I'm pretty good, as usual. Been doin lots of reading and thinking this break, both of which have been good for everyone involved. I'm feeling pretty blissed out at the moment, which I'm sure will be erased by the semester to come, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying things as they are.

I'm currently reading "The Pleasures of God" by John Piper. John Piper is the man. He's pretty hardcore. I highly recommend those spiritually inclined to check out his books, or, if you don't have time to devour a 400-page theological tome right now, there's lots of fun goodies at www.desiringgod.org. Check it out!

Back to school in less than a week! w00t~

5 Songs

Submitted for your approval, 10 reasons why, with the recent loss of our beloved Guided by Voices (may they rest in peace), The Decemberists are the best band in the world:

1. They have a female drummer.
2. They dress in civil war garb occasionally.
3. They use words like "truncated," "camisole," and "samovar."
4. Their e.p. "The Tain" is based on an 8th century Scottish epic poetry cycle.
5. Their "5 Songs" e.p. has 6 songs on it.
6. Lead singer Colin Meloy was an English Lit. Major in college, and his sister is a novelist.
7. They have a full time pedal-steel player, and make liberal use of the accordian as well.
8. Their second album is called "Her Majesty the Decemberists," and the first song is about pirates.
9. Their songs are filled with exotic locals, like Birkinau and the Mulnomoth County Library.
10. They have come up with the best song title ever: "My Mother Was a Chinese Trapeze Artist"

So in other words, check out these dorky and wonderful lads and lasses. Good stuff indeed!

Good news! After a frustrating couple of days, I'm feelng rather back on track tonight.

The main reason I wanted to write was to recommend that you all go out and see "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" right now. What an awesome movie! Seriously, it's been awhile since a movie affected me this much, and in such a strange way. If you want something wild and wacky yet serious and moving, check it out right now!

And, um, happy new year tomorrow or the day after!
